The Chinese Holly is a great plant for in front of windows or places we do not want people or animals to go because of their hard pointed leaves.

Chinese Holly is a slow growing evergreen shrub with dense dark green foliage. The plant originate in China and Korea. The leaves usually have 5 spines which are pointed sharply and occasionally referred to as horns. The Chinese Holly produces dull white flowers that are small and unnoticeable. After flowering the produce non edible red berries. These berries persist into the winter adding a lovely red accent plants that have lost their flowers. They are used as a foundation plant or shrub, due to they sharpe spinded leaves they are often placed in front of windows as a deterrent. In general the chinese Holly does not particularly tolerate wet soil.
